This coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has truly turned our world upside-down and in a few other directions, as well. Our lives have been disrupted in so many ways but, hopefully, we will return to a more normal situation sooner than later. When that will be is presently only conjecture.

In response to the devastating impact that the COVID-19 virus has had and will have on our healthcare system, the government has mandated that all elective patient care including consultations, office visits and surgical procedures, must cease until further notice. This also applies to those procedures that were already scheduled to be performed and which now have been cancelled.

Unfortunately, this also includes FTM and MTF top surgery.

Yes, they don’t consider this to be emergent or semi-emergent though you may beg to differ.

How long this will last is anyone’s guess? Two months? Three months?

As I indicated in my recent blog, Coronavirus Impact Update as of March 23 2020, we have been working on making “Virtual Consultations” a reality so that you don’t have to potentially wait several months to be seen.

Well, we are happy to announce that it is fully functional, user friendly and ready for you to take advantage of.

Go to the page on our website, Virtual Consultations and Telemedicine, to initiate this process.

You can schedule your Virtual Consultation with Dr. Turkeltaub rather than potentially having to wait several more months for an in office visit. Furthermore, if you then decide to proceed with surgery, everything can be completed and ready for you to have it scheduled including obtaining insurance approval, if relevant.

Prior to your surgery date, Dr. Turkeltaub will see you in the office.

You will also be happy to know that, at least during this pandemic, essentially all insurance companies will cover your consultation as if it were an in office visit. Some have even waived their copay requirements though you may want to check your particular plan.

If you have any additional questions including regarding completing the requirements on the Virtual Consultations and Telemedicine page, please call our office at (480) 451-3000.
