Juvederm® Ultra XC, the dermal filler used in the treatment of facial folds and lines, just received official approval by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its injection into the lips and areas around the mouth in those individuals wanting lip augmentation and who are more than 21 years old. Previous to this announcement, it could and was used for creating larger and fuller lips but its usage was considered to be “off label” (a legal term meaning that it hadn’t been approved by the FDA for this particular treatment).

Clinical trials using Juvederm® Ultra XC for lip augmentation revealed that 79% of those treated had a significant improvement of lip fullness at three months post treatment. More than 78% of treated individuals claimed that there was an improvement of their overall satisfaction in the appearance as well as the feel of their lips at one year.

I have been using Juvederm® Ultra XC and other related Juvederm® formulations off label for many years in order provide my patients with immediate and aesthetically pleasing enlarged, fuller lips. My patients have truly been very happy with the results which, in some cases, have persisted to a very substantial degree for well in excess of a year.

This is a relatively simple and easy procedure to undergo and one which I perform using local anesthesia, thereby making it an essentially pain free experience. Results are immediate though expect to have moderate swelling of your lips for a few days. Bruising can also occur on occasion.

For more information on lip augmentation with the usage of Juvederm® Ultra XC or for any other plastic surgery procedure that I perform, or to schedule your consultation, please call my office at 480-451-3000.

A Message Regarding Coronavirus/COVID-19

As always, our highest priority is to ensure YOUR safety and well-being.

With coronavirus/COVID-19 still a health issue, we want you to know that we are continuing to take extreme infection control measures in our office to maximize cleanliness and keep the environment as sanitary and safe as possible. This also means that only patients will be permitted to come into our office and everyone will have their temperature checked.

In an abundance of caution, we are requesting that if you are experiencing a fever, cough, chills, fatigue or any type of respiratory illness, please delay any upcoming appointments at our practice. We can talk with you by phone or email to establish a new date and time for the appointment. You may also want to contact your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

We do offer Virtual Consultations and Telemedicine through doxy.me. This is best used for specific situations including postoperative questions and as a substitute for some postoperative office visits relating to certain procedures. However, if you are planning to proceed with surgery, an in-office evaluation will be required.

We are all in this together and really appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us by phone or email.
