The vast majority of women are far more concerned about their appearance and attractiveness when they are young and more beautiful as compared to when they are much older and the effects of aging and life have taken their toll. There are many obvious and rational reasons for this.
However, this doesn’t mean that they are not concerned by their looks when they get to be much older. Just because you are in your 60’s or 70’s – or even older – doesn’t mean that you still don’t want to look good. Yes, your priorities are different and what may have bothered you earlier in life is not so very important now.
Then again, the issues of beauty that bothered you when you were young may still be on your mind and remain important for you now.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
Where you place your priorities regarding your appearance is a completely personal decision. What may be an issue for one person can be totally irrelevant for another. There is not a right or wrong answer here.
That bikini body that you wanted so many years ago may be so unimportant to you now. Your breasts – well, they might have served their purpose in the past but their drooping or small size is a non-issue in your present life.
Then again, maybe you are still want your breasts to look good even if you are in your 60s and 70s.
Good for you!
You still may feel relatively young mentally so why not try to recapture some of your youth physically if you can and you’re relatively healthy?
I see MANY women in their 50s, 60s and 70s who are still concerned about the appearance of their breasts and want them to look attractive or retain their attractiveness. Many have already had some sort of breast enhancement procedure – a breast augmentation, a breast lift (mastopexy) or breast lift with implants and want an update or a revision. Then there are other women who never have had any cosmetic breast surgery and are now seeking out one of these procedures in order to rejuvenate their breasts.
Generally, the overall quality of results from cosmetic breast surgery as well as their durability is superior at a younger age as the tissues are more youthful and are in a better structural compared to later in life. However, good to excellent results can still be obtained at a much older age given more ideal circumstances.
The following patient of mine illustrates this reality.
Secondary Mastopexy-Augmentation in a 73 year old Woman
This is a 73 year old woman who first underwent a breast augmentation with silicone implants along with a breast lift well around 44 years previously – at the age of 29. An implant exchange was done just a few years later. She had experienced no problems in the intervening years. Ultimately, an MRI confirmed the diagnosis of rupture of one breast implant.
She saw me in consultation to consider what her options were. Throughout the years, she was very happy with having breast implants and feeling and looking attractive. It was her desire to replace her old implants rather than just having them permanently removed. In addition, due to poor skin elasticity and drooping of her breasts, a secondary breast lift was necessary to rejuvenate her breasts and provide her with a more desirable appearance (Photos A, C and E).

A bilateral breast implant exchange using smooth surfaced silicone implants was performed along with a secondary mastopexy-augmentation. Her cup size is around a “D”. Results are seen at 6 months following surgery (Photos B, D and F).
She is very happy with the outcome of her breast lift and implant exchange. This is exactly what she was looking for.
